So your bachelor pad is looking a little sad. We can help.

Whether you’ve got a new place that needs decor from scratch or if you’re trying to refresh the style in your current space, we’ve got plenty of ideas for getting the perfect bachelor pad vibes in your home.

Start with the Entrance.

You may have multiple entrances, such as through the garage and the front door. Make sure both are inviting, welcoming, and refreshing since it is both your first sight after a vacation or a day out, and your guest’s first impression when they walk into your home. Declutter the space (this is important in every room), if you have shoes piled up by the door, look for a shoe storage/organizer or a wicker basket to put them in. Get a coat rack or hook to have backpacks and jackets at hand when you come and go. Consider buying a nice entry table, they are usually small and affordable as furniture goes, and are a great place to leave your keys and put a small plant to make the area look fresh. If you have wall space, an art print that defines you or makes you feel at home would do well in the entrance.

Move to the Living Room.

Create a living room you want to hang out in. This is the first place your buddies will congregate to watch a game. Get a comfortable couch and a coffee table. If you like to slouch and put your feet up, make sure your coffee table is the right height (slightly lower than the couch) and material to put your feet on (glass is probably not wise here). If you have the space, add a nice lounge chair on one side. Get a storage ottoman or entertainment center to hold remotes, game controllers, and magazines. A living room wall would be a good spot to put some art in a laid back, fun style such as a classic movie poster like Jaws or Scarface, a framed jersey from your favorite team, or something by Banksy.

Male Kitchen/Dining Space.

Design the right kitchen and you might find yourself spending more time in there. You may even become a decent cook. What makes an inviting kitchen in a male living space? Most men seem to like a kitchen that combines industrial modern design, think stainless steel appliances and dark grey countertops, with some natural rough wood elements. Comfortable bar stools that welcome you and your guests to linger over a beer and some appetizers are also a must. For the dining space, think about getting a table with at least four chairs, even if you live alone. This makes the dining area feel complete and will come in handy when you have friends over for dinner. No matter what style elements you go with, keep it clean. Nothing makes you feel better than a clean kitchen. Doing dishes and wiping down counters after each meal takes just a few minutes and pays off in making the space feel nice 24/7.

Bedrooms are the Best Rooms.

This is your sanctuary, take the time to make it perfect. Invest in a high quality mattress and bedspread, you spend one third of your day on it and a good night’s rest affects everything else you do. A chic modern look we suggest is to have your sheets, pillowcases, and comforter in the same color, we suggest grey, blue or muted green. Keep the bedroom from becoming cluttered and keep furniture to just a dresser, nightstand, and wall mounted TV. Hang personal photos here and feel free to go more creative with the artwork you hang on the walls. Think about what would be relaxing for you to look at while you’re trying to fall asleep.

Don’t Forget the Bathroom.

Most guys put little thought into a bathroom’s design. We recommend taking a moment to think about what would make you enjoy your time on the porcelain throne. As with all rooms, cleanliness and minimalism will pay dividends in making you feel at ease in the bathroom. Continue to use colors and themes you’ve used in other parts of your house. Buy matching bathroom rugs and wash them as needed. Get towels in a matching or coordinated color and keep them hanging or folded neatly. As with the living room, a bathroom is another good location for hanging lighthearted art pieces. If you’re a fan, anime or comic themed prints would look great here.

We hope you’ve found some decor ideas to incorporate into your own male living space.  Remember to continue experimenting and investing in your home to keep it fresh and find what works for you. In no time you’ll have the place that everyone wants to hang out in.
